A 4-year professional diploma courses are also available to graduates and diploma holders in the field of art or design and related fields. For the 10th pass students, there is a 3-year professional diploma course in dress designing and garment manufacturing by many institutes.
Skills required for Textile Designing
Apart from the degree and formal education, one needs to have a knack for art and creativity. A textile designer should possess the ability to work collaboratively, know to meet deadlines and work well under pressure. Due to mounting technology, the industry is always in the state of constant change, and textile designers must stay up-to-date with both fabric and fashion trends and function accordingly.
A deep understanding of colors, fabric, texture etc. should be well understood by the designer. Not only this, one should be well versed with technology i.e. knowing about relevant software, such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, CAD (computer-aided design) and Web PLM fabric-tracking systems and much more.
