Rahul Gandhi was born on 19 June 1970 in Delhi, the capital of India. He studied at St. Columba’s School in Delhi before joining The Doon School in Dehradun, Uttarakhand from 1981 to 1983. Rahul Gandhi Political Journey 2024

Rahul Gandhi announced his entry into Indian politics in March 2004. His father Rajiv Gandhi contested from Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh and Rahul Gandhi won with a landslide victory, getting more than a lakh votes. During the period of reorganization of party secretariats, Rahul Gandhi was declared the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee on 24 September. He also took charge of the Indian National Student Union and the Indian Youth Congress. Both developed rapidly under his leadership. In the 2009 general elections, he retained his Lok Sabha seat from the Amethi constituency.

In January 2013, he was declared the Vice President of the Indian National Congress. In his political journey, he has been an ardent representative of the underprivileged and economically backward sections of society. On 11 May 2011, he was arrested by the police for supporting protesting farmers who were demanding heavy compensation for the acquisition of their land by the authorities for a highway project. In the 2014 general elections, Rahul Gandhi retained his Lok Sabha seat from the Amethi constituency. In December 2017, due to his hard work and commitment, he assumed the post of President of the Indian National Congress. On 3 July 2019, Rahul Gandhi officially resigned from the post of Congress President after losing the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
